ALLLLL CHAAAANGEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

After a few years of running my own studio and helping to make some awesome records, I feel it is time for a change. The studio is now gone and has been replaced with a van and a new name! Head over to eek! recordings for more info and news about the future….

My Fuzz is crappier than your Fuzz..

So I'm halfway through mixing our album after three false starts. A friend has very kindly lent me a space to piece it all together. It has two windows here!! (Yes, I know the curtains are shut in the photo, but the sun was in my eyes...)I can not stress enough how good windows are. After five years of doing most of my work in a windowless hovel I am a bit worried I might melt from over exposure to sunlight.
The record is slowly starting to come together. So far 7 of the 14 songs we recorded are mixed. With (I think) only 10 of those set for the finished thing. We shall see...

So it's been a while.....

Yes it has! I spent January in a 12th century abbey in northern France recording Los's debut album. It really was an amazing experience, with the freedom to make music all day and night. We rented the space for three (very cold) weeks and managed to get fifteen songs fully tracked and use half a forests worth of fire wood! Each song was approached as an individual. We would start each day working out what sounds worked best for the song in hand and how we should record it, either live, layered or backwards.... Also trying to keep things fresh and not fall to much into a routine (aside from soup for lunch every day and Sopranos with dinner being obligatory)
Now I'm back home I have the alarmingly large task of mixing the record and making sure it does the experience justice. I'm also planing on renting the space again for a month in the summer and running it as a residential studio, so if anyone out there is interested in coming out to make a record do get in touch.

Here are some nerdy pics for your viewing pleasure.
